Update on Covid-19 vaccine availability

Updated information about how local providers are using their allotment of Covid-19 vaccines was provided Saturday by Greene County public health director Becky Wolf.

Wolf explained that public health is receiving 100 doses from the state per week. Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Jefferson is allocated about 300 doses of week from the CDC Retail Pharmacy Program.

As of Friday, 46 percent of Greene County residents age 65 and older have received one dose of vaccine; only 15 percent are fully vaccinated.

“Over 1,200 people are on the waiting lists of local vaccine providers. Many have been patiently waiting since late January,” Wolf said.  ”We’ve done our best to simultaneously vaccinate our elders while also targeting healthcare workers, PK-12 and child care staff, and first responders. There simply is not enough vaccine for everyone, so we ask for your continued patience and understanding as we strive to be as fair and equitable as possible.”

Effective Monday, March 8, 2021, our local providers will work with the following groups to “get shots into arms:”
